The United Colonies of Hythos, the Human empire, stretches across the entire breadth of the Thyolar solar system, but beyond its limits, the reign of space lies to the fittest. In a mission to secure more territory beyond the empire’s jurisdiction, two battleships are sent beyond the outer rim.

In an effort to salvage the missing battleships, one more ship is sent to find out what happened. The Prowler, too, goes missing, and the Colonial government decides not to risk the lives of any more military personnel until a larger excursion can be arranged.

Lieutenant Myron Vasilis awakens aboard the Prowler to find that the ship has been stripped of power and, so it seems, personnel. It is a race against time as the air slowly becomes thinner, and Myron must find any help that might still be onboard to get the ship back online before the Prowler becomes his tomb.

Unaware as to the cause of the Prowler becoming lost at space, Myron presses onward to the reactor in the dead space of the now ghost ship, but there is more to this catastrophe than all of his years of service have trained him to face.

Elsewhere, A band of scoundrel pirates find themselves at odds with the menacing Nargron race. Led by Captain Natasa Ligeia, the crew of the Makhaira sail across the cosmos, coincidentally learning of a new destructive weapon the Nargrons are developing. Though the Makhaira is an outlaw ship and her crew cares not for Colonial affairs, Natasa and her crew find themselves right in the middle of the breakout of a war between the Hythothians and the Nargrons—a war that could transpire to a galactic scale. Before they know it, their lives become intertwined with the missing Colonial ships, and Natasa will be forced to decide if sharing a common enemy with the colonies is worth the risk of bringing aid to a government that she irrefutably despises.
